Sustainability: If everyone were doing this, what would be the result? “

Sustainability: If everyone were doing this, what would be the result? "

Sustainability means a lot for construction. It means considering the environmental impacts that are created by the way we obtain the materials and processes we use to perform the work. It means understanding our projects not only in relation to the result and the benefit to our business, but also in terms of the impact on the environment, the community and the world. The concept of sustainability means asking the question “If everyone were doing this, what would be the final result?”.
At ABN we ask ourselves this question continuously, and that is why we always have it in mind and apply it in each of the stages of our product’s life cycle. For us, sustainable materials are those in which, for their production, installation and maintenance, actions have been carried out with a low level of environmental impact. They must be durable, reusable or recyclable. At each stage of the building’s life cycle, comfort and quality must be increased, while the impact on the environment on economically viable projects must be reduced.

These are the different stages in which ABN has made improvements to be more sustainable:

  • PRODUCTS

Improve the quality of our products complying with the most demanding fire reaction regulations, creating halogen-free systems, with low smoke emission and no toxicity.

Increase the consumption of recycled raw materials with respect to virgin raw materials in our manufacturing process.

  • ECO-DESIGN

Work with the most innovative raw materials in the market to obtain products with more performance, more resistance and with greater durability.

Optimize the use of raw materials, achieving weight reductions up to 30%.

  • ENERGY

Reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, such as diesel, liquids for treatments and other substances used for the maintenance of machinery.

  • PACKAGING

Reduce the packaging costs of our products with respect to the tonne manufactured. This objective has been applied as a priority to wood, plastic and cardboard.

  • WATER CONSUMPTION AND ELECTRICAL CONSUMPTION

Reduce water consumption through reuse, which is needed in cooling treatments.

Perform an integral management of wastewater and rainwater to return them to the environment in perfect condition.

Increase the use of renewable energy in our headquarters and production plant.

Reduce annually the consumption of kilowatts compared to the tons manufactured.

– This is just another step in our sustainable vision and we will continue working to minimize our impact on the environment.
