Last October the last meeting for the R+D+i Evolution Project took place at the headquarters of Pininfarina, Italy.
After 4 years of hard work, the Evolution Project (Electric Vehicle revOLUTION) ended with the presentation of the first electric vehicle prototype that has achieved a weight reduction of 30% in comparison with the initial prototype (the NIDO Vehicle), from 845 kg to 606 kg. The weight reductions have been made on the following key parts of the vehicle:
All the demonstrators have been made and the corresponding validations completed at the mechanical and shock resistance level, thus developing this final prototype.
EVOLUTION is a project funded by the European Commission within the VII Framework Programme for a period of 48 months. The partnership was comprised of 24 companies, Universities and European Research Centers, with important companies like the Italian Pininfarina, CRF (Fiat Research Centre), Cidaut (Automotive Research and Development Centre), Tecnalia, FPK, Dow Cheminal, the University of Valladolid, and the University of Aalborg, among others.
